Who We Are

The Members

The Church

We are an independent evangelical church, made up of Christians of many ages, nationalities and denominations, meeting in two congregations, one based in Harpenden and one in Redbourn.  Our congregations are publicly known respectively as ChristChurch Harpenden and ChristChurch Redbourn.

ChristChurch Redbourn will meet at Fish Street, Redbourn between 25 July - 5 September (Redbourn Junior School thereafter) and ChristChurch Harpenden meets at Roundwood Park School, Harpenden, on Sunday Mornings at 10.30am.  There is a crèche for under 3s, and activities for young people aged between 3 and 13 at both locations.

Both congregations meet together on Sunday evenings normally at Vaughan Road, Harpenden, although once a month the service is held at Fish Street, Redbourn.  We also run a range of activities for all ages throughout the week. See 'Regular Meetings'.

The legal name of the church is ChristChurch Harpenden and it has one body of church officers.  The church is affiliated to the F.I.E.C. (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) and the Evangelical Alliance.  For more information on these see 'Links' and 'What we believe'.

The leadership

ChristChurch currently employs three people on a full time basis and a pastoral co-ordinator on a part-time basis.

Except for staff, who may be appointed from elsewhere, the ChristChurch leadership is elected from among the church membership, and comprises those respected by the church for their spiritual qualities. The Elders are responsible for the overall leadership and spiritual advancement of the church as a whole, and of its individual members.

Currently the elders are:

Mark Laughlan Haydn Williams Stephen Pentland   Keith Goulding

  Simon Garthwaite

Sarah Bruce
Jenny Capaldi

Denise Johnson
David Key

The members

At ChristChurch, all the members are involved in the running of the church, sharing in the decision-making process, and hold the leadership accountable for what they do.

Anyone who is trusting Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour is welcome to apply for membership. Membership involves the privilege and responsibility of being involved in the life of the church. We aim to encourage all members to know what their gifts are and actively use them.
